Good Tooth Goes Bad

If you have ever experienced a cavity, you know firsthand how quickly a good tooth can go bad. Much of this has to do with what we eat, and specifically how much sugar we intake. Find out the process of how cavities are created and good teeth go bad here:

Understand Cavities

Cavities can be anything but easy to deal with, but the creation of a cavity is actually a pretty simple equation. When you mix a sugary diet with the bacteria that is created by plaque, your mouth creates an acid that attacks the healthy teeth. This acid wears away at the outer most surface of your tooth, your enamel, which is unable to repair itself. This acid decays and rots a portion of your tooth, thus creating a cavity that will require treatment by a dentist to repair.

Save Healthy Teeth

In order to avoid cavities and save healthy teeth from going bad, it is important to avoid a diet high in sugar, and make sure that you are keeping up with a great oral hygiene routine. It is vital to make sure that you are brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes, and flossing nightly as well.
