It’s the first thing we place into our mouths in the morning. No, it’s not coffee. We rely on our toothbrush and toothpaste, with the help of our floss, to keep our mouth clean and our oral health intact. But how do you take care of the tools that take care of your mouth?
Are We Doing Enough?
Very often, after we finish brushing both in the morning and in the afternoon, we simply wet or toothbrush under the faucet to remove the toothpaste and call it a day. But is that enough to really keep the bristles of our toothbrush clean?
Sanitation & Recommendations
When you break it down, it becomes clear that sanitation of your toothbrush and other dental hygiene tools is necessary. Our toothbrushes live in the bathroom, the bacteria hub of the home. It is important to think about all that we could be putting in our mouth if we aren’t careful. It is recommended that instead of simply just rinsing the toothbrush off, you run the brush and the bristles under warm water. This will sanitize the brush from bacteria and making sure it is sufficiently clean. You could also rinse the brush in mouthwash, as the alcohol content within mouthwash can serve as an antibacterial agent. If you would like to get a deep clean or your tools, just like washing baby bottles, dipping your dental tools in warm water on the stove top for a few seconds can do the trick.
